Black Market Clash returns to Kindred Bandroom on Sunday 14 September for an afternoon of charged, high-volume tribute to the music of The Clash. Joining them are Melbourne post punk four-piece Lipstereo. Doors open at 2PM.

Black Market Clash draws from the full spectrum of The Clash’s catalogue, covering songs from the albums The Clash, Give 'Em Enough Rope, London Calling, Sandinista! and Combat Rock, plus various EPs. Early punk anthems, album deep cuts, dub-heavy grooves and genre-shifting tracks all feature in a set that is carefully assembled with a deep respect for the band’s legacy.

From "White Riot”, "Clampdown" and "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" to “Bankrobber", "Rock The Casbah”, "The Card Cheat" and "Straight To Hell”, the band brings genuine firepower to the stage. With three frontmen in their own right combining forces, it’s a tight no-passengers lineup where every player is essential and everything feels lived-in and fully committed.

The lineup features Victor Stranges (The Methinks, The Futurists) and Garry Allen (Crossbones Boogie, Kahuna Daddies) trading lead vocals and guitar, channeling the raw interplay of Strummer and Jones with instinct and presence. Stu Thomas (Dave Graney And The MistLY, Kim Salmon And The Surrealists) anchors the low end with force and detail, stepping forward for lead vocals on "The Guns Of Brixton" while also providing backing vocals throughout. Mike Dupp (The Methinks, The Futurists) adds depth and atmosphere on keys, drawing from the live keyboard textures that shaped London Calling and beyond. Gian Cannizzaro (Chloe Booth) brings precision and versatility on drums, driving the full range of styles with power and control.

Expect a set that moves between urgency and space. Punk, reggae, rock and rhythm played with clarity and energy. The sound is full and considered drawing on the spirit of The Clash’s live energy while remaining attentive to the detail and character of the recorded versions.

Opening the afternoon is Lipstereo, a young four-piece indie rock band from Melbourne. Formed in 2019, the group bonded over a shared love of The Strokes, Weezer and Arctic Monkeys, shaped early on by worn-out Ramones and Blondie VHS tapes. Their sound leans into sharp guitars and tight rhythms, echoing the spirit of CBGB-era bands.

This is the only Black Market Clash Melbourne show booked for the remainder of 2025. Tickets are limited. Be early.
