Middle James – Stop Playin’ EP Launch - All Night Long at Chinese Laundry
Middle James take over the Laundry for an all night long hybrid live / DJ set, celebrating the release of their new Stop Playin’ EP on their label Strange Cadence.
Known for weaving jazz-inflected house, broken rhythms, and deep club textures into their sets, Middle James will be stretching out across the full night - blending DJ selections with live instrumentation and performance, offering a deeper look into the world behind the EP.
Across four tracks, Stop Playin’ EP captures their most club-focused work to date - from the pulsing, percussive title track and late-night garage roller Kenny, to hypnotic deep cuts like Thro-bo and the lush, system-driven Octa.
Expect a journey through house, techno, dub, broken beat, and beyond - with plenty of new Strange Cadence material and unreleased works on the system. Come early, stay late.
Holding down the cave we have three of Australia’s most exciting underground selectors bringing heavy hitting and forward thinking club music:
Kailyn Crabbe is a Naarm/Melbourne-based DJ and party-starter, originally hailing from Boorloo/Perth. A trusted tastemaker and the driving force behind Triple J’s Mix Up, she champions the sounds of the underground to a national audience while staying deeply connected to the vibrant local scene. Having shared stages with the likes of Ben UFO, Objekt, and D. Tiffany, Kailyn brings an expert touch to the dancefloor. Her sets lean into a communal sense of euphoria — weaving together hypnagogic house, tribal percussion, and delightfully wonky techno for a truly transportive experience.
Pinz aka Andy Lowe, is one of the hardest-working DJs in the Eora club circuit. When he’s not running the independent label Dance is a Fetish, curating and playing lineups across some of the city’s best venues, or delivering sets packed with revisionist breaks and rave revival energy - he’s deep in the studio. Through a slew of aliases and collaborative projects - Possible People, Pinz & Pels, Bumperz, and Andreas F.F.C. - he continues to push heavy club sounds that keep dancefloors moving.
Mimi J is no stranger to Chinese Laundry. The Korean-born, Eora-based selector is a trusted force within Sydney’s club scene, having lit up some of the biggest stages in town. Known for her no-nonsense, high-impact approach to club music - equal parts heavy-hitting and irresistibly danceable - Mimi J remains a go-to name for late-night energy. We’re thrilled to be welcoming her back to the Cave.
