PAPA SMURF
Papa Smurf is the stage name of Giovanni Polizzi, a veteran DJ from Melbourne who has been a prominent figure in Australia's underground dance scene since the 1990s. Known for his electrifying personality and euphoric trance sets, he gained a cult following during the city's rave culture boom and held residencies at iconic venues like Chasers, Mansion, and Dome. After a hiatus, Papa Smurf made a notable comeback at the 2020 Pitch Music & Arts Festival, reintroducing his old-school trance sound to a new generation. His performance was widely acclaimed, leading to sold-out shows and a resurgence in popularity. In recent years, he has expanded into music production, releasing tracks that blend house, progressive, and techno under his own label, Majik. His 2025 release "He Not In" received support from renowned artists and marked a significant step in his evolving career. Papa Smurf continues to be a sought-after DJ, performing at major festivals and events, and remains a beloved figure in Melbourne's electronic music community.
