The PERTH BLUES CLUB presents

Dr Cuz & The Gang + EMPIRE BLUES 20TH ANNIVERSAY SHOW 2005-2025

Dr Cuz & The Gang | 7.30pm

Dr Cuz & The Gang are a 4-piece band who play bluesy soul, funk and reggae originals and covers. They released their multi-genre album in 2016 (as Dr Cuz and Friends) and the band have played numerous gigs in Perth and Fremantle, including the Fringe Festival (2019) and Gidgestock Festival (2022). They have received three nominations for the WAM Song of the Year and have recently released a funky album infused with a hint of blues (Funkylicious 2024). This exciting group of professional musicians always give a live performance to inspire and get people dancing and having fun.

EMPIRE BLUES 20TH ANNIVERSAY SHOW 2005-2025 | 9.00pm

Empire Blues started as a casual conversation between two acquaintances, Andrew McIlroy (Vice President PBC) and Alan Dawson in 2005.  They had known each other since the early 80’s but besides a few fill in gigs had never formally played together. The idea was to create a British influenced blues band as all the local blues outfits were concentrating on American artists.  A three piece was the easiest option and Gavin Kerr was added on drums but soon after Gavin’s work commitments resulted in Frank Shinall joining the band. Both Andrew and Alan had known Frank separately since the 70’s.  Now 20 years on the three friends have done more than 700 shows together and produced three albums of original material.  They are one of Perth’s most consistent working bands. The Perth Blues Club was one of the first gigs the band did so it seemed only fitting that they celebrate their 20 years together with a show to mark this milestone.
