Violet Harlot is a project born of unconventional influences, fuelled by ambitious musicianship and nitrous live energy. The quintet have been performing around Australia since 2021, establishing a cult-like fanbase within the Adelaide music scene through their infectious rock songs and visceral live act, culminating in their sold-out EP launch in 2023. But after taking a hiatus through 2024, they have reincarnated into something phenomenal, yet equally bizarre, in preparation for the birth of their long-awaited sci-fi concept album ‘The War For The Red Hypergiant’. The group is known for their expertly-crafted live act and tight musicianship, and experiments with the expansive instrumental colour palette of Pink Floyd, TOOL and King Gizzard, although viciously corrupted by the acidic fangs of punk rock.

The fearless orator Will Everest leads each of their sonic assaults, commanding the crowd to move and sweat to the thunderous pulse literally bleeding from Luke Vanderzon’s drums. Hugo Begnini and Nathan Rowe are the group's guitar double-dragons - switching back-and-forth from rhythm and lead riffs, and when he’s not playing bass or producing the band’s whirlwind discography, Bailey Fechner offers his talents as the groups flautist, providing an ethereal overtone in the middle of their explosive performances.

Violet Harlot’s “War For The Red Hypergiant” LP submerges listeners into their dystopian galaxy, where the tyrannical Lord Duecos and his Solar Fleet enslave billions of lifeforms to build the mighty Dyson Sphere - a megastructure with the capabilities to harness the near-endless power of the Red Hypergiant star. But, through chance and divine intervention, one of the slaves looks up to the stars, and begins to wonder if there was more for them beyond the sphere…

To celebrate the release of their ambitious concept album, Violet Harlot will be taking over the stage at the Adelaide Uni Bar this August!

They are joined by old friends and scene legends Molly Rocket, and the flawless neo-psychedelic hydra known as Druid Fluids, resulting in one of the most anticipated Adelaide gigs this year.
