Poetiq Honesty x Red Room Poetry presents...
Young, Gifted & Black
Join host and curator Nyaluak Leth for a showcase of poets from the African diaspora - this will be a live cultural experience in the spirit of Def Jam Poetry, celebrating Black excellence through performance poetry, music, and art in a space that feels intimate, electric, and deeply communal.
Not only is it a Poetry Month event — it’s also the rebirth of Poetiq Honesty, a platform that began in 2020 to amplify raw, unfiltered spoken word in Sydney and beyond.
Happening on Sunday, August 24th, the evening will feature an electrifying lineup of Black poets, performers, and musicians offering work that honours identity, legacy, and community, including Cocoa the Conscious, Atoc & Amour Malou, Tatenda, and Ifeoma Peace Obiegbu. From soulful DJ sets and open mic sign-ups to a feature performance by NMMWL and a live musical finale, this night is an invitation to gather, witness, and celebrate.
All profits after artist and venue costs will be donated to No Taps Foundation, supporting communities in need of clean water access and sustainable solutions.
Presented by Poetiq Honesty and Red Room Poetry as part of Poetry Month.
