HIGH STANDARDS
We have standards.

Thursday, July 25 – Brunswick Ballroom

An evening where the boundaries of jazz are teased, stretched, and elegantly undone.
At High Standards, great musicians reinterpret the canon—not with irony, but invention.

Barney McAll Trio
Barney McAll (piano), Yunior Terry (double bass), and Danny Fischer (drums) treat pop songs as if they were standards, revealing unexpected depth, humour, and heart.

John Henderson
A trio of sonic alchemists—Joshua John Smeltink (On-Ly) on piano, Henry Hicks (Horatio Luna) on bass, and Damien Ellis on drums—transform beloved standards into something stranger and more beautiful than memory allows.

Laneous & Friends
Laneous (vocals/guitar), Lewis Hosie (keys), Paul Bender (bass), and Perrin Moss (drums) reimagine vocal jazz through a futuristic lens—joined by a remarkable lineup of guest singers:
Nai Palm, Daniel Merriweather, Kylie Auldist, Loretta Miller, Rita Satch, and Thando.

Not quite jazz as you know it and songs as you remember them, but absolutely music to raise your standards by.
