SIMA × The Vanguard presents: In Residence with The Pocket Trio

A collaboration between SIMA and The Vanguard, ‘In Residence’ highlights the sound of Sydney music by presenting some of the city’s most distinctive creative voices in performance over the course of a month. Across weekly shows audiences are allowed to witness the construction, development and refinement of a musical conversation between some of the Sydney’s most iconoclastic artists.  

The Pocket Trio are a feel-good jazz ensemble with a focus on tight arrangements and groovy pockets. Having shown themselves to be one of the most exciting, swinging ensembles in Australia, the trio (comprising Andrew Scott, Max Alduca and Tim Geldens) play with an incredible sense of energy and rhythm that celebrates their hard-bop influences of Oscar Peterson, Bill Charlap, Ahmad Jamal and more.       

Having honed their sound over the course of an 8 year weekly residency, they have finessed a unique repertoire of originals and arrangements transcribed from classic trios from the jazz canon. Come witness a joyful exploration of the exuberant energy of the jazz piano trio.

Intoxicated persons will not be admitted. No thongs, steel cap boots, or spiked attire. Dangerous  behaviour including Crowd Surfing, Stage Diving, Moshing and Violent Dancing is not allowed and will result in your immediate removal from  this venue. Inappropriate behaviour at this venue will lead to your banning.
